When Mike Armour speaks on leadership, trust-building, personal development, and effective communication, he draws on a lifetime of first-hand experience.
At 33 he founded a highly successful private school. By 37 he was one of America's youngest college presidents. And at 38 he was a naval reserve commander in the field of intelligence. Mike eventually retired as a captain after five years of directing systems security and information technology for a nationwide intelligence command.
Mike holds degrees from five colleges and universities, including a Ph.D. from UCLA. With a dozen books to his credit, he is an award-winning author in the field of leadership and has been published in nearly 20 languages worldwide.
Along the way Mike has led a variety of faith-based institutions, spearheaded major political campaigns, and chaired numerous multi-million dollar fundraising drives.
For almost five years he served as CEO of an international non-profit providing humanitarian services in eastern and central Europe. In addition he worked with ministries of education in Russia and Ukraine to integrate character training into their schools and universities.
More recently he launched an initiative called Leadership Development Africa, which takes his leadership development skills to management teams in both the public and private sectors of Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria. In Africa he has conducted trainings for leaders at city, county, and cabinet levels, along with top management teams in businesses such as banks and computer service companies.
Through his entire career Mike has been the "go-to" man for organizations needing to turn around or get back on track. He excels at strategic thinking, analyzing corporate culture, and guiding transformational change.
Today Mike is president of Strategic Leadership Development International, Inc, which he founded in 2001. Based in Dallas, his firm provides coaching, consulting, facilitating, and skill-building programs for entrepreneurs and top executives seeking peak performance for themselves and their leadership teams.
Mike also takes an active interest in community and political affairs and was a candidate for Congress in 2002. He has vast experience as a leader and board member in a number of non-profit organizations. He currently serves on the executive committee of the board of trustees for York College in Nebraska.
Mike and his wife Fran live in the Lakewood section of Dallas. Their lives have been blessed with three children and ten grandchildren.
